Studio Theatre's presentation of Clare Lizzimore's Animal starts its run this evening.

Rachel leads what appears to be the ideal life. She is married, living in her own house, and embarking on a career. Yet, she experiences the creeping sensation that things are off. Whether it be the sense of leaving something behind or the very nature of the walls around her, she remains unsettled. Her husband thinks she needs time; her psychiatrist suggests positive thinking. Neither can explain the visions that she begins to have, which haunt her with doubt, past decisions, and potential mistakes. Unsure if she needs to seek medical help or to follow her own instincts and break out of the life she leads, Rachel explores the underside of domesticity, the complexity of the brain in chaos, and the delicate balance between sinking and survival.

Gaye Taylor Upchurch directs the play. The cast features Kate Eastwood Norris as Rachel, Joel David Santner as Stephen, Cody Nickell as Tom, Michael Kevin Darnall as Dan, Anaïs Killian as Little Girl, and Rosemary Regan as Older Woman.

The creative team includes Rachel Hauck (scenic design), Jesse Belsky (lighting design), Daniel Kluger (sound designer), Kathleen Geldard (costume design), Jonathan Ezra Rubin (fight director), Adrien-Alice Hansel (dramaturg), Allie Roy (stage manager), and Paul Lysek (assistant director).

Performances will run through October 25.
