Grammy Award winner Bruce Hornsby will star in a live concert entitled Bruce Hornsby Performs the Music of SCKBSTD – The Making of a Musical, to be presented at the Wells Theatre in Norfolk, Virginia, on Saturday, January 8 at 8pm.

The event will benefit the production of his musical SCKBSTD, to be presented by Virginia Stage Company, January 18 – February 6. John Rando will direct the production, which will have musical supervision by Kim Grigsby, musical direction by Jodie Moore, and choreography by Scott Wise.

With music and lyrics by Bruce Hornsby, additional lyrics by Chip deMatteo, and a book by Clay McLeod Chapman, the show focuses on what happens when a stranger moves into a small town and starts cruising the streets in his Dodge. Eight of the songs from SCKBSTD are featured on Hornsby’s 2010 release Levitate.

The company will feature Tony Award winner Robert Cuccioli as the stranger, Norman Rhodes, along with Kevin Mambo, Jill Paice, William Parry, Marcus Lovett, Jayne Paterson, Brynn Williams, Riley Costello, Garrett Long, Rosa Curry, Karl Warden, Eugene Barry-Hill, and Ken Cavett.

The creative team will include Narelle Sissons (scenic design), Robert Wierzel (lighting design), Jennifer Caprio (costume design), Jessica Paz (sound design), and Darrel Maloney (projection design).
