The Team Behind Broadway's Ink Recall Meeting Rupert Murdoch
Bertie Carvel and Jonny Lee Miller star in James Graham's new play, about Murdoch's takeover of the London Sun.
In James Graham's Ink at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre, stage vets Bertie Carvel and Jonny Lee Miller play two preeminent figures in the world of journalism. Carvel stars as Rupert Murdoch, then a publisher on the rise, while Miller appears as Larry Lamb, the editor Murdoch installs at his newly purchased newspaper, the Sun. Lamb passed away in 2000, but Murdoch is still with us, and when Rupert Goold's production of the drama premiered in London's West End, Murdoch went to see it. The backstage visit, as Carvel points out, was as nerve-wracking as one would expect.
