Preview Jonathan Groff, Ana Gasteyer, and the Cast of A New Brain
William Finn's autobiographical score returns to the stage at New York City Center.
Tony winner William Finn's autobiographical musical, directed by Tony winner James Lapine, opens tonight at New York City Center as part of the Encores! Off-Center Series.
Inspired by Finn's personal experiences, A New Brain is a medical tragedy seen through the iris of a Looney Tunes short. After struggling composer Gordon Michael Schwinn (Jonathan Groff) collapses face first into a plate of spaghetti, he is diagnosed with a brain tumor and is forced to come to terms with his creative ambitions and the people in his life. The cast also features Jenni Barber, Quentin Earl Darrington, Bradley Dean, Dan Fogler, Ana Gasteyer, Josh Lamon, Aaron Lazar, Alyse Alan Louis, and Rema Webb. Get a first look at the company on the City Center stage, performing numbers from Finn's poignant score, including "I'd Rather Be Sailing," "The Music Still Plays On," "I Feel So Much Spring," and more.
