When Hugh Jackman started pitching an idea about circus impresario P.T. Barnum, it had been two decades since a film studio had given the green light to an entirely original movie-musical. Now, The Greatest Showman, with Jackman in the title role, a score by Dear Evan Hansen Tony winners Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, and a cast that also includes Zac Efron, Zendaya, and Tony nominee Keala Settle, is about to hit big screens. The experience was akin to creating a Broadway show from top to bottom, and, in Settle's words, every take was like an opening-night performance.
