Bunnies and Babies and Geese, Oh My! Backstage at The Ferryman
Child stars Matilda Lawler and Michael Quinton McArthur take us behind the scenes of the largest play of the season.
The casting demands of Broadway's The Ferryman are intense. In a company that numbers 35 in total, there are 17 adults, 10 understudies, 4 children, and 4 babies on rotation, plus a live goose and a live bunny. And they all have to live in the tiny backstage area of the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre, where Jez Butterworth's three-plus-hour drama runs eight times a week. What does it take to keep everything going smoothly offstage? Child stars Matilda Lawler and Michael Quinton McArthur took us around the theater so we can see the goings-on before the houselights dim.
