Stars Ask the Stars at the Opening Night of Choir Boy on Broadway

Leslie Odom Jr., Phylicia Rashad, and more send questions to Tarell Alvin McCraney and his cast from the red carpet.

Acclaimed playwright and Oscar-winning screenwriter Tarell Alvin McCraney made his long-anticipated Broadway debut last night at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre, where his play Choir Boy opened as part of Manhattan Theatre Club's 2018-19 season. The play was first seen on MTC's off-Broadway stage in 2013, but is now crooning its soulful spirituals to a much larger audience, who get to partake in McCraney's beautiful story of young black men coming of age at a Christian prep school. Seven members of the cast are making their Broadway debuts alongside their playwright, so they were beyond thrilled to answer a few questions submitted by their illustrious opening-night guests.
