About

Begun as a community theatre in the Bloor West Village 25 years ago, the Village Players Theatre Company presents pleasant dramas and comedies. Nothing is likely to offend. Of five productions a year, four are sure to be crowd-pleasers in the company's 163-seat main stage hall. And the company's 1,400 subscribers overwhelmingly vote for comedies. A 50-seat studio space may stage more ambitious fare. Past successes have included I Hate Hamlet, a romantic comedy about a young Californian TV actor who encounters the ghost of John Barrymore while trying to cope with a Shakespeare in the park production. You won't suffer slings or arrows.--Colin McClelland
