Shaw Festival to Celebrate Life of Goldie Semple on March 28

The Shaw Festival will celebrate the life of actress and teacher Goldie Semple at an event to be held in the Festival Theatre on Sunday, March 28, at 3pm.

Semple, who died on December 9, 2009 at the age of 56, performed leading roles at both the Shaw Festival, where she acted for 17 seasons, and the Stratford Shakespeare Festival, where she performed for nine seasons. Semple also taught an annual Queen’s University intensive course at The Shaw, and was affiliated with other educational institutions, including New York University.

Semple is survived by her husband Lorne Kennedy, and their 14-year-old daughter, Madeline.
