Score: A Hockey Musical, which as previously reported co-stars Olivia Newton-John, will open the Toronto International Film Festival on September 9, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The movie musical is written and directed by Michael McGowan, and is about a teenager (Noah Reid) who becomes an unexpected hockey hero. Newton-John plays the mother of Reid's character. The film also stars singer/songwriter Marc Jordan as her husband, Nelly Furtado as a hockey zealot, Allie MacDonald, Stephen McHattie, and Dave Bidini of the rock band Rheostatics.

The movie features 19 original songs, with lyrics by McGowan using music by Newton-John and Jordan, as well as the Barenaked Ladies, Amy Sky, and Hawksley Workman. Jordan and Newton-John also co-wrote and perform a song for the film's final credits.

Newton-John previously starred in the movie musicals Grease and Xanadu. She has been one of the world's top-selling recording artists, and appeared earlier this year on the hit FOX series Glee, singing one of her hits, "Let's Get Physical."
