Louise Pitre, Tony Sheldon, Will Swenson, Rufus Wainwright et al. Receive 2011 Dora Nominations

The nominations for the 2011 Dora Mavor Moore Awards, honoring the best in Toronto-area theater, have been announced.

Priscilla Queen of the Desert The Musical, which has since transferred to Broadway, received five nominations, including for Outstanding Production, costume designers Tim Chappel & Lizzy Gardiner, choreographer Ross Coleman, and leading actors Tony Sheldon and Will Swenson.

Nominees also include actress Louise Pitre for her work in A Year with Frog and Toad, composer Rufus Wainwright for his opera Prima Donna, choreographer Peter Darling for Billy Elliot the Musical, and Ex Machina’s production of The Andersen Project, which is competing in the Outstanding Touring Production category.
