John Herrera to Star in Florida Stage's When the Sun Shone Brighter

Tony nominee John Herrera will star in Florida Stage's world premiere production of When The Sun Shone Brighter, by Christopher Demos-Brown. This will be Florida Stage's final production before moving into their new home at the Kravis Center for the Performing Arts, and will run May 12-June 20.

The play tells the story of a charismatic young Cuban-American Mayor of Miami, a politician of unlimited potential. But when he decides to run for the Senate, his own lust for power entangles him in a web of sex, lies and ambition.

The cast will also include Dan Domingues, Natasha Sherritt, Bill Schwartz, Brandon Morris, and Cliff Burgess.The creative team will include Kent Goetz (scenic design), Richard Crowell (lighting design), Michiko Kitayama Skinner (costume design), and Matt Kelly (sound design).

Herrera was Tony nominated for his role of Neville in The Mystery of Edwin Drood, and his other Broadway credits include Evita, 1776, Camelot, Man of La Mancha, The Threepenny Opera, Shogun, The Musical, and Grease.
