Husband and Wife Julie Layton, R. Travis Estes Cast in Doll’s House, Part of St. Louis Actors’ Studio Season

A real-life couple, Julie Layton and R. Travis Estes, have been cast in the penultimate production in St. Louis Actors’ Studio 2009-2010 season. They’ll be playing discontent wife Nora and her husband Torvald in Henrik Ibsen’s A Doll’s House (April 19-25).

Ibsen’s play is one of six in the theater’s season that begins with Proposals (October 2-18), Neil Simon’s portrait of life at a resort in the 1950s. The theater’s second offering will be Robert Bolt’s exploration of Henry VIII’s struggle with Sir Thomas More, A Man for All Seasons (December 4-20).

John Kolvenbach’s comedy about a man who falls in love with the woman who burglarizes his apartment, Love Song (January 8-24), will be the first offering at the theater in the new year. The Shape of Things (February 19 – March 7), Neil LaBute’s look at an art student’s relationship with her boyfriend, follows. Rounding out the season will be The State of Marriage (June 4-20), a new, multi-media piece written and directed by Joan Lipkin.
