About This Show

Deep in the heart of the suburbs at Joe McCarthy High, the kids are not all right. Set somewhere between first and eighth periods, Stupid Kids tracks a quartet of generic, angst-ridden high-schoolers through their empty but endlessly important (at least to them) travails. Jim, the buff, motorcycle-riding piece of beef, and Judy, the school’s hottest cheerleader, have managed to strike up an improbable friendship with two outcasts: Kimberly and Neechee, a sensitive pair of grunge dreamers who spout absurd poetry (“the numbing numb numbness,” “I am alone, loner, lonely”) and struggle to come to terms with their homosexuality. As Kimberly dreams of a way to seduce Judy, Neechee is falling head over heels for Jim. It’s an impossible situation made worse by typically teenage desperation, and better by loud rock and roll. Stupid Kids is written by John C. Russell and directed by Adam Greenfield.
