An Evening With C.S. Merrill

C.S. Merrill will tell about her 7 years of weekends working with Georgia O’Keeffe from 1973-1979 when the great painter was in her eighties and Merrill was in her twenties. Merrill will read selections from her two books and answer questions. Since this was the period when the great genius was going blind from muscular degeneration, you will learn more about O’Keeffe’s artistry, strength of will, her opinion of her own art, and her most salient memories. “Weekends with O’Keeffe ” is a transcription of a detailed accounts in her journals recorded by Merrill within 24 hours of experiences. “O’Keeffe, Days in a Life” is a volume of poetry selected from over 200 poems written in the journals during the years she spent with Miss O’Keeffe. There will be surprises, details you never knew about O’Keeffe.
