About This Show

Youth is taking the stage at Théâtre français de Toronto with Les Zurbains 2006, a production of Montreal’sThéâtre Le Clou.

Les Zurbains 2006 are stories by high school students, two of whom are from Toronto, and one professional writer. These astonishing, funny, moving texts appeal to the intelligence and the heart of the young audience for which they were written, as well as their parents. These stories are the winners of a writing contest held simultaneously in Montreal and Toronto.

In this 2006 version, audiences encounter, in Trou noir/Black Hole, a loser whose life transforms just like in the movies, in Étrangère/The Stranger, a philosopher confined to a hospital bed who ponders the vital question: to think or to live?, in Le Sheepman, a strange character with a sheep’s head, in Dave l’énigme/Dave the enigma, Dave whose life is an endless puzzle, and in Le sacrifice au bonheur/Sacrifice to Happiness, Fate – who has come to explain the true nature of her mission.

Trou noir by Olivier Choinière, with Marc Beaupré
Étrangère by Toronto’s Alejandro Vernaza, with Pierre Monet-Bach
Le Sheepman by Toronto’s Catherine Lamoureux, with Caroline Tanguay
Dave l’énigme by Philippe Angers-Trottier, with Mathieu Bourguet
