About This Show

Set against a background of royal intrigue wherein Church battled State, Eleanor the Queen is on trial for heresy for defending women’s equality throughout her politically audacious life. From her marriage to Louis Vll, through the Crusades, to the establishment of the Plantagenet dynasty with the greatest love of her life, Henry ll, Eleanor altered the balance of power in Western Europe and became a true Medieval heroine who remains an icon more than 800 years after her death.

A story of true love turns treacherous when Henry II betrays Eleanor the Queen with his confidant and ally Thomas Becket, leading to bitter hatred, unending war and the downfall of an empire. Imprisoned for 14 years by her own husband, it is her son, Richard the Lionheart, who must ultimately destroy his father.

Written by Catherine Muschamp and directed by Jean LeClerc.
