St. Louis Shakespeare Company Artistic Director Donna Northcott directs On the Razzle by Tom Stoppard, the author of Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead. When a prosperous merchant in turn-of-the-century Vienna decides to wine and dine his intended, he leaves his two young sales clerks in charge. But when they decide that they too will have a day on the town, comic mayhem ensues. Witty and madcap, full of puns, mistaken identities and double-entendres, this production revels in a comic style that makes Stoppard’s screenplay for Shakespeare in Love sound like Chekov.
