About This Show

Cy Coleman’s The Will Rogers Follies: A Life in Revue is a highly visual account of the life of the famed folk hero, performer, and philosopher. Will Rogers was born in 1879 and eventually became the top box office attraction in the world. Early on, his famous rope tricks earned him employment and led the star to say, “Swinging a rope isn’t bad, as long as your neck isn’t in it.” The ever-quotable Rogers was also the author of a daily newspaper column, the voice of a radio program, and a personal friend of five U.S. presidents. Performing in The Ziegfeld Follies in the early 1900s made Rogers one of the highest paid performers on Broadway.
