The West Point Jazz Knights

About This Show

Join us for a free concert celebrating Veteran’s Day and the Count Basie Theatre’s 85th birthday by the West Point Jazz Knights! The Basie first opened on November 11, 1926, a holiday then known as Armistice Day. What better way to celebrate that occasion and commemorate the service of our veterans than with a concert by the West Point Jazz Knights? Playing innovative original compositions and arrangements, and recreating the sound of the great Big Band jazz ensembles, the Knights have over three decades of musical excellence as an ensemble. The musicians are all graduates of the most prestigious music schools, recruited by audition for service in the US Military Academy Band. They provide the music for Academy functions, and have played with jazz greats like Rufus Reid, Steve Turre, Randy Brecker, Jon Faddis, Benny Golson, and Benny Goodman at Lincoln Center.
