About This Show

Rain was adapted by John Colton and Clemence Randolph, based on W. Somerset Maugham’s story Miss Thompson. Opening on Broadway in 1922, with Jeanne Eagles playing the role of Sadie Thompson, it ran for five years, and was so popular that four movies were made based on this sensational play about a missionary who confronts a woman with a past at the port of Pago Pago.
