Bohemian musical style, strict discipline, and pure virtuosity have made Bamberg Symphony Orchestra an instant success. In January 2000, veteran music director Jonathan Nott took up the post of principal conductor. Since then, the orchestra has toured regularly to South America, Russia, New York, and the Edinburgh and Salzburg Festivals. The orchestra recently gave its 100th concert in Japan and made an appearance at the BBC Proms. Widely acclaimed as both a key figure in the new music world and a uniquely significant musical voice in repertoire of the past, piano master Pierre-Laurent Aimard enjoys an internationally celebrated career which transcends traditional boundaries.
