Palace at the foot of the Embarcadero in San Francisco, The Time of Your Life is a funny, poignant and, in this production, musical ode to Nick’s ragtag regulars, whose lives and dreams overlap and meld to create a sweet panorama of the final days of the Great Depression. Set against the
tempestuous historical backdrop of labor unrest and awareness of the
impending war, this work captures the sentiments closest to playwright Saroyan’s heart – optimism, the power of hope, compassion for those weaker than ourselves, and the value of a life lived fully.
