About This Show

Stories of Us is the largest work to date by emerging Hanoi-based choreographer Le Vu Long. Working with Together Higher, his company of vocally and auditorily handicapped dancers, Stories of Us uses Western-inflected dance to reflect on stereotypes concerning sexual orientation and disease.

Le Vu Long is a dancer, choreographer and film actor who was born in Hanoi, Vietnam. He is currently a member of the Vietnam Opera and Ballet Theatre (VNOB), where his choreography is also a part of the repertory. In addition to dancing with VNOB, he has performed in the work of choreographers Bang Thinh, Bernadette Tripier and Phillippe Cohen, and in the companies of Compagnie Coline, Ballet Prejlocaj and L’Opèra de Marseille. In 2004, Long’s dance company Together Higher was awarded a National Dance Project Production Grant from the New England Foundation for the Arts to make Stories of Us, which also will tour to Portland, Chicago and New York.
