About This Show
This farce-within-a-farce about actors acting as actors acting characters is a theatrical joyride, hailed by Frank Rich when it first opened “one of the most sustained slapstick ballets I’ve ever seen.” The phrase “Noises Off” is theatre jargon for a commotion offstage. But in Noises Off, the commotion is onstage, created by a troupe of has-been and never were actors touring a dreadful British sex farce called Nothing On. Michael Frayn (the brilliant author of Copenhagen) gives us a backstage, and onstage, peek at a disastrous show in which every actor’s nightmare unfolds with uproarious results. Richard Seyd directs.
