In the Heights

Lin-Manuel Miranda’s “In the Heights” opens June 2nd at the Cornish Playhouse where it will run for 10 performances. Michael D. Blum is directing a cast of 20 predominantly latinx/bipoc performers to tell the story of an expat Caribbean community in New York’s Washington Heights “where the bodega coffee is light and sweet, life revolves around events in the street, and the breeze carries music in harmonious beat.” It’s a community on the brink of change, full of hopes, dreams and pressures, where the biggest struggles can be deciding which traditions you take with you, and which ones you leave behind.
