About This Show

Acting Out Against AIDS, a Seattle-based company made up of local actors, will be presenting a concert version of William Finn’s Falsettos to benefit the Lifelong AIDS Alliance. The cast will feature such Seattle favorites as Anna Lauris (Sound of Music, My Fair Lady), Bobbi Kotula (Annie, The Rocky Horror Show), David Austin (Hair, The Wedding Banquet), Eric Ankrim (The Rocky Horror Show), David Silverman, Luke Colson and Kat Ramsburg (Wizard of Oz, Like You Like It). Directed by Brian Yorkey with music direction by RJ Tancioco and Jenna Lahr, this concert is sure to be a wonderful evening of entertainment benefiting a wonderful cause.

Falsettos is the story of a confused, bisexual man, Marvin, amidst a Jewish family in New York. Initially, Marvin seems blessed with the perfect family. He has a caring wife, Trina and a young son, Jason. Nevertheless, the family is soon broken apart when Marvin leaves Trina for another man, Whizzer. Trina, meanwhile, ends up with the family psychiatrist, Mendel. All the while, Jason is stuck in the middle. Bringing friendship to Marvin and Whizzer are the lesbian couple composed of Dr. Charlotte and Cordelia. In the end, the various characters are forced to come together when Whizzer contracts AIDS. With one of the most brilliant scores of the last 50 years, William Finn pours humor and heart into this emotional journey through life. Hopefully, the concert will turn into an annual event, with a different musical featured each year, but will depend on the success of this first concert.
