14/48 — The World’s Quickest Theater Festival

14/48 is a growing community of over 500 writers, directors, actors, musicians and visual artists dedicated to creating a supportive environment for radical artistic collaboration. During the festival, 14 plays are conceived, written, designed, scored, rehearsed, and performed in 48 hours to fit a new theme chosen at random for each night. Friday’s theme is chosen out of a hat from submissions from the artists while Saturday’s theme comes from Friday’s audience. The combination of speed and genius inspiration serves to strip away the creative inhibitions from more traditional theater, proving that, contrary to popular opinion, sometimes the first idea is the best.
