In The Road to Mecca, an artist fills her garden with fantastical life-sized sculptures representing an imaginary Mecca. Inspired by South Africa’s Helen Martins, whose home "The Owl House" is now a cultural site, this personal and thought-provoking play examines the fight to create art in the face of oppression.
