About This Show

Intelligent, accessible, and genuinely heartfelt, The Real Thing is Tom Stoppard’s portrait of two couples’ urgent search for love: grand love, true love, real love. Henry, a playwright, is married to Charlotte, an actor; their friends Annie and Max are also actors. When Henry’s latest play is staged, life begins to imitate art–and the four friends interact in surprising new ways, re-examining their relationships and questioning whether the love they have is the love they want. Featuring A.C.T. core company actors René Augesen and Marco Barricelli as Charlotte and Henry, The Real Thing continues A.C.T. Artistic Director Carey Perloff’s ongoing collaboration with Stoppard, who considers A.C.T. his “American home.”
