About This Show

For the prosperous Freitags of Atlanta, 1939, the trumpeted December premiere of Gone with the Wind is overshadowed by Ballyhoo, the genteel, if surprisingly genitle, soiree that is the highlight of the Jewish social year. In a warm and funny comedy with a darker life inside, the upcoming cotillion ensnares the family in romantic intrigue and caste-conscious hypocrisy, but ultimately leads them toward their common heritage. This Broadway success is from Alfred Uhry, the Oscar-winning author of Driving Miss Daisy.
