Stage Door Conservatory presents two shows of The Hobbit. Thirteen talented young actors, ranging in age from 8 to 14, will perform in the production, based upon J.R. Tolkein’s classic novel. Appealing to the imaginations of both children and adults alike, this suspenseful and engaging play is set in the sometimes dark, sometimes charming, always compelling Middle Earth.
Bilbo Baggins, known widely as the beloved hobbit in J.R. Tolkein’s famed story, lives comfortably in his hobbit hole, enjoying stories of adventure whenever someone has one to offer! REAL adventures, however, are definitely not his “cup of tea,” so when Galdalf, the Wizard, knocks on Bilbo’s door, bringing with him Thorin Oakenshield, eleven ragged looking dwarfs, and a contract for an adventure to recover the lost treasure of Lonely Mountain, Bilbo could not be less interested — at least at first! But before he knows it, he’s joining Galdalf and his companions in a perilous quest over mountains and under hills, through caves and forests … enraptured by the rousing story of adventure they share, but not entirely sure what’s he managed to get himself into!
