About This Show

For our 31st season, Kenneth Kelleher returns to direct Macbeth. Generally regarded as one of the Bard’s major tragedies (along with Hamlet, Othello, and King Lear), this is the first time SF Shakes has produced it for Free Shakespeare in the Park. Macbeth is memorable for its suspenseful plot and thrilling scenes of witchcraft and swordplay. Audiences will recognize Macbeth’s famous soliloquies, including "Is this a dagger which I see before me?" and "Tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow", as well as the witches’ rhymes "Double double toil and trouble, fire burn and cauldron bubble", which have become an ingrained part of English-speaking culture.
