Landscape of the Body

Bigger Than a Breadbox Theatre Co. is proud to present LANDSCAPE OF THE BODY, its inaugural Bay Area production. A jigsaw of life, death, and questions of identity, John Guare’s vibrant and unsettling LANDSCAPE OF THE BODY is simultaneously a poetic portrait and an engrossing journey. Narrated with musicality and crude wisdom, the episodic nature of the play refuses to leave the audience comfortable or unmoved. Set in Greenwich Village during the early 1970’s, the play follows a single mother as she tries to navigate her turbulent world. A cast of desperately eccentric characters form the picture of a radical community amidst a landscape of destruction and loss. This production explores the divide between life and death and the ways we contort our identity as we try to construct lives of meaning.
