New York City
Jeff Goldblum and the Mildred Snitzer Orchestra
$60 - $75
Film actor and star of such box office juggernauts as The Fly, Jurassic Park; Jurassic Park:The Lost World and Independence Day Jeff Goldblum has another talent, acclaimed jazz pianist. Goldblum and a band of friends and compatible musicans call themselves the Mildred Snitzer Orchestra ( named after a family friend) and perform regularly at Los Angeles’ Rockwell Table and Stage (the advice to play a weekly gig was given to him by Woody Allen). John Storie (guitar) James King (tenor saxophone) and Kenny Elliott (drums) make up the band.
The group opened the Fall 2014 season at New York’s famed Cafe Carlyle and are now bringing their act to Feinstein’s at the Nikko in San Francisco. Don’t expect a staid musical recital. Goldblum’s show is anything but that. The proceedings often feel extemporaneous and Goldblum himself appears before the show starts as his own opening act, interacting with the audience over movie trivia and true or false questions.
