Hairspray

It’s 1962 Baltimore where the 50s are out, hair is big, we haven’t yet met The Beatles and racial integration is only a whisper.

Hairspray is the musically rockin’ story of Tracy Turnblad, a girl with some extra pounds, great dance moves and big dreams of being a teen dance idol on the local TV dance program “The Corny Collins Show.” When Tracy wins a spot on the show she crosses paths with rival reigning queen of the show Amber, teen heartthrob Link and the bitter truth of segregation. Can Tracy fit in, fulfill her dreams and make the world a better place without running out of hairspray?
