Charmaine Clamor

Hailed as the world’s most celebrated Filipina jazz & world vocalist – with three straight albums in the Top 10 of JazzWeek World Music charts – Clamor will perform songs from her new album, “The Better Angels,” releasing on July 13. Clamor will be accompanied by Grammy-winning pianist-arranger Laurence Hobgood, bassist Gary Wicks, and on drums and ukulele, her long-time colleague Abe Lagrimas.

Born in Subic-Zambales, where she started out singing in the back of municipal buses, Charmaine has serenaded the President of Philippines, collaborated with David Byrne & Fatboy Slim on a pop single, and headlined Festivals and concert halls on four continents, most recently in South Africa. Celebrated by The New York Times as “a gifted vocalist” and by The Los Angeles Times as “one of the important and original new jazz singers of the decade,” Filipino-American recording artist and cultural trailblazer Charmaine Clamor has earned her Queen of Jazzipino crown.
