California Theatre Center presents A Walk in the Woods by Lee Blessing. This 1988 play was inspired by the true story of two passionate men who had the courage to forge a nuclear weapons agreement without the support of their governments.
Set in a “pleasant woods on the outskirts of Geneva,” a Russian diplomat and his American counterpart meet informally after long, frustrating hours at the bargaining table. As the seasons change and their talks continue, we begin to see an understanding develop between these two very different men – one seasoned, cynical and urbane, the other fervently idealistic about what can be achieved through perseverance and honest bargaining.
Schedule: June 17, 18, 19, 24 and July 9, 17, 21, 23 at 8pm; Sundays, June 20 at 2pm, and July 18 at 2pm & 7pm; and Saturday, July 24 at 4pm.
