About This Show

Berkeley Rep presents Mike Daisey’s solo show, 21 Dog Years: Doing Time @ Amazon.com, directed by Jean-Michele Gregory.

After holding a string of dead end post-college temp jobs in Seattle, solo performer Mike Daisey unexpectedly hit the jackpot: in 1998 he joined the ranks at Amazon.com during the height of the dot-com boom. Suddenly, Daisey found himself propelled into the madcap world of Internet corporations, where leather-clad employees spent their mornings trading stocks on-line, wild packs of enormous dogs roamed the hallways freely and the name of Jeff Bezos was held sacred. From a lowly customer service rep to a rising star in business development, Daisey observed first hand the myriad excesses and eccentricities of doing business at cyber speed, an experience he relates in 21 Dog Years with a wry humor and infectious energy that takes his audience on an exuberant romp through the buzzing corridors of the high-tech community at its very pinnacle. Money corrupts. Secrets are divulged. No one is spared.
