About This Show

Arthur Miller’s self-described “satire” is set in an unnamed South American country and follows the actions of the chief-of-state and a Christ-like dissident who, with his many followers, threatens the current totalitarian rule. When this “messiah” is captured, the dictator sells exclusive broadcast rights to the young man’s execution – by crucifixion – to an American television network. At once poetic, humorous and thought provoking, Resurrection Blues brilliantly satirizes misguided global politics and the predatory nature of a media-saturated culture. Mark Lamos directs.
