About this show

George Balanchine's works claim the Benedum Center stage as Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre builds upon its long-standing tradition of ballets by this American Master. A PBT premiere, Agon, created in 1957 to a commissioned Stravinsky score, stands as one of Mr. B's greatest master works. Contrasting the terse, fast and explosive Agon, Valse Fantaisie brings sweeping lyricism to Glinka's orchestral score. The Prodigal Son, Balanchine's iconic 1929 masterpiece based on a Bible story of sin and redemption, serves up one of ballet's greatest roles for a male dancer.
