The new Baker has arrived in a rural French village just in time to ease the pains of the bickering villagers, who have been without bread for weeks. All is well — and everyone’s spirits are rising — until the Baker’s beautiful young wife runs off with the strapping local handyman, driving the Baker to distraction and the villagers to breadlessness. From Broadway dynamos Joseph Stein (Fiddler on the Roof) and Stephen Schwartz (Godspell and Pippin) comes this wry musical comedy about jealousy, lust, revenge and… pastries.
