A Prometheus Bound: A Folk Musical

About This Show

“Freedom is just a fleeting moment of relief between oppressors”- Prometheus. Renegade Classic Theatre seeks to produce works that are foreign. Foreign in their origin or their content. We celebrate and give voice to the lesser known and voiceless. A Prometheus Bound: A Folk Musical riffs on Aeschylus’ classic work by setting it in 1930’s Oklahoma during the Dust Bowl Era. Prometheus follows suit like other folk heroes of the time such as Tom Joad, Woody Guthrie, and Pete Seeger. The production is greatly influenced by Guthrie’s life and music, Steinbeck’s portrayal of America, and the Dust Bowl photographs of Dorothea Lange.
