About This Show

The Man in Room 306 was performed at Luna Stage in the fall of 1995. April 4, 2008 will mark the 40th anniversary of the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and there seemed no better time to bring this highly acclaimed one-man show back to Luna’s audiences.

The play is set on April 3rd, 1968 in the Lorraine Motel. We find Dr. King struggling to write what would be his legendary last speech amidst increasing public and private pressures. We meet a man who had many dreams, not only dreams about racial unity; a man haunted by ghosts from his past; weak at times, strong at others, and fearful of his own impending doom; an ordinary man, who responded to a call from God and the world and found it within himself to do extraordinary things.
