About This Show

Stephen Temperly’s Souvenir is a laugh-out-loud valentine to a woman who followed her dreams all the way to Carnegie Hall. This charmingly funny play with music is based on the too-unbelievable-to-be-true story of society matron Florence Foster Jenkins who although she had no talent as a singer, loved opera and classical music with such a passion, she hired herself an accompanist and performed an annual concert for friends. With a one-of-a-kind voice and a sense of pitch that was all her own, her private recitals soon became public events – making her a cult-favorite of the opera world.
