The Paper Mill Playhouse presents Ragtime, featuring music by Stephen Flaherty, lyrics by Lynn Ahrens, and a book by Terrence McNally, based on the novel by E.L. Doctorow. A timeless tale of innocence lost and freedom won the Tony Award-winning musical Ragtime is the story of a phenomenal era that will live for generations to come. It recalls the beginning of the Twentieth Century and three remarkable families — one upper-middle class, white Anglo-Saxon Protestant; one socialist immigrant Jewish; and one Harlem black – as their lives become dramatically intertwined as they are caught up in the events of a young, turbulent country. Stafford Arima directs.
