Not About Nightingales

About the Show

The University Theatre presents Tennessee Williams’ Not About Nightingales Based on a 1930’s Philadelphia prison riot. Nightingales is a raw dramatization of real events at a Philadelphia prison in 1937 where convicts led a hunger strike, protesting conditions and the consequences that led to the death of four inmates. The voice of Williams’ entrapped nightingales refuses to fade when the characters are plunged into darkness. Passion, conviction, and moral outrage.
