Hamm & Clov Stage Company, a theater group that has been working hard to show different alternatives to its city, presents A Contar Cuentos: el legado de Jose Marti by Teatro IATI. This is a play for children based on the work of the Cuban writer Jose Marti and adapted for scene by Pablo Garcia-Gamez. Yanko Bakulic directs.
The work is made up of three short-stories: ‘El Camarón Encantado’ (The Enchanted Shrimp), ‘Los Dos Ruiseñores’ (Two Nightingales) and ‘Los Zapaticos de Rosa’- (The Little Pink Slippers), which appeared in ‘La Edad de Oro’ (The Golden Age), the first magazine for children in Spanish, published in New York City in 19th century. This play is an example of how theater for children can be entertaining and educative at the same time.
The play is preceded by a parade of puppets outside the library, and a song and dance workshop for children at 2:30 pm inside the library.
The play will be performed in Spanish with written synopsis in English. Information.
