Tom Chapin’s music spans styles and generations. Tom’s strong songwriting and engaging vocals with intricate guitar work has become his trademark. Through thirty years and numerous CDs, Chapin has entertained, and enlightened audiences of all ages with original music. Over the years, Tom has performed in many venues from concert halls, to outdoor festivals, or in a coffeehouse.
Tom has gained widespread critical and popular acclaim for his recordings aimed at 4 to 11 year-olds and their families. Parents magazine says, "Nobody today is writing and performing better kids’ songs than Tom Chapin . . . the Pied Piper of children’s music." Five of his family recordings have received Grammy nominations for Best Musical Album For Children. Billboard magazine calls Chapin "the best family artist around."He has also recorded eight albums of adult-material. The New York Times says Tom is "one of the great personalities in contemporary folk music." He has appeared on Broadway as a lead in the musical "Pump Boys and Dinettes"; off-Broadway as musical director of both "Cotton Patch Gospel" and "Harry Chapin: Lies & Legends"; and on television as host of "Make A Wish" on ABC, and host of the documentary series "National Geographic Explorer." Tom’s daughters are carrying on the musical tradition that Tom and his late brother Harry Chapin started by forming a trio called the "Chapin Sisters".
