About This Show

Written and performed by German-born singer and actress Micaela Leon, Tiger, Muses & Jasmine, a provocative revue of the wild heroines of the Weimar Republic, transports audience members to the roaring Berlin of the 1920’s, a time of great political upheaval, decadence and creative adventure. While men were writing about modernism, women such as Marlene Dietrich, Valeska Gert and Anita Berber were pushing social boundaries – on stage and off. Recently described by Cabaret Hotline as presenting “amazing vocals and an equally amazing talent as [an] actor” Leon introduces some of these dynamic women and reintroduces the music of Hollaender, Spoliansky, Eisler and Weill – works that either were considered depraved or were destroyed by the Nazis. Leon is accompanied by musical director Paul Trueblood. Also born of German ancestry, Trueblood is an expert in the music of this era and has collaborated with one of the original Weimar Girls – Greta Keller – in 1970s New York. He has also performed songs by Weill, Hollaender, and others with Marianne Faithfull on her album, 20th Century Blues.
